Task Details

The odd-man-out task presents participants with three red circles out of the initial array of 8 blue circles. The task for them is to simply select the one that is the 'odd-one-out' based on proximity; one red circle is always furthest away. The decision time of participants is the primary measure of interest here and that is obtained by having the participant keep the 'home' button pressed in order to initiate a trial. After initially pressing the home button a timer starts, after a random (short) duration the circles turn red. The time between the targets appearing and the mouse button being released to move towards the target is recorded.
